The menu is interesting with lots of choices, so anyone could find something good to eat here. However, the prices are a little high, even for steamboat. The cinnamon roll was ok, and the frosting was excellent, but overall nothing to write home about. It lacked cinnamon flavor which is almost inexcusable in a cinnamon roll. We felt sort of the same way about everything, a little underwhelmed and could not understand why people wait in line to eat here.

Delicious! We drove by freshies a few times and saw the line out the door. The popularity convinced us to stop in before leaving steamboat and we are SO GLAD we did! Delicious food, happy waitresses and a relaxed energy. We will be back!

I get to Freshies every time I go up to Steamboat! They have consistently fresh and delicious meals. I have had many, many breakfasts here over the years and haven't had anything that I didn't like. My favorite breakfast here is the Sedona scramble, so good! The last time I was up here I got a Southwestern Caesar Salad for lunch and added some grilled chicken. It was very good, crisp and had refreshing flavors. I also had a really yummy dirty chai (chai with a shot of expresso.) All the ladies who work here are very friendly and attentive.

Creative and fantastic food! Excellent for herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores. There isn't anything on the menu I wouldn't recommend. Jammed with locals and tourists. Extremely loud. But the food is glorious, and both the reason for and worth the wait and decibel levels.

Had an excellent breakfast here with family on a friday morning in mud season. Lots of good omlette options, but a little light on the meat as some have mentioned. I had a shredded beef and avocado omlette that came with toast, potatoes, and the fruit cup I added. The omlette was cooked perfect, the beef was tender, and the fruit and veggies were very fresh. Thr potatoes were some of the best I have had at breakfast joint. They crispy outside, tender inside, and well seasoned. My kids really enjoyed their pancakes, and the scramble plates were good as well. The tea selection is good Service was friendly and frequent, but I have been in the past when they are very busy and service can slow down. I woul avoid going on the weekend unless you are an early riser. Prices are on par for steamboat given the food quality, but still a bit more than I like to pay for breakfast.

This place is more of a typical diner than a fresh, healthy place as the name suggests. Our food was okay...the service a bit rude/rushed. This place is nothing special and the coffee drinks are overpriced (and i'm not usually one to complain about price)! There's better places in Steamboat.

  • Brittney N.

Seems like a place that isn't focused on meat, and that's totally cool, if that is what you are into. Don't get me wrong, I love me my veggies, but I likes to start my day off with a healthy portion of fat and protein... And by this I mean bacon, sausage, and/or fatty fatty meat. Freshies seems to be more of a veggie focused model with eggs playing the main protein roll. They also had several carb options, which I know many prefer for their first meal. That all being said, the corn beef hash had great flavor, and my shredded beef Omelet was nice, though I wish it had had twice as much beef. The verde wasn't my favorite, and I can now finally say that I am not a huge fan of grits after trying them at several steamboat restaurants. Portions are not huge so if you are a big eater I wouldn't suggest it, but if you are looking for something on the lighter and fresher side, this is a great choice. If veggies and eggs benedict are your thing, then definitely give this place a try!

Indoor & outdoor seating. There were a number of great options on the menu. The Granny Gear was great!! Friendly service and a cute Dog Parking area outside.

If your just wanting some great food, you've got to follow our Steamboat tradition and visit and refuel at Freshies! There might be a wait, but we all know good things come to those who wait! The only bad is there not open 24 hours!

  • Seriphina N.

With a 30 minute wait, pretty steep prices and tiny portions this place doesn't deserve another try. The Philly cheesesteak was bland and lacking in meat. For a place that is packed I'm at a loss as to why.

A Steamboat must for breakfast, brunch or lunch. They offer outdoor seating (when the weather's good) and have a bar for seating parties of 1-2. A huge plus is free coffee when you're waiting for a table. It always takes the hanger out of me. The manager is a wonderful woman who expertly manages the wait list, helping the staff expedite food and clean tables and is polite and happy while doing so. She is definitely a huge reason Freshies is so popular and will continue to be successful. After a wait of 15-20 minutes (very reasonable at 9:30am on a Sunday) we were seated at a booth. If we had been ok with sitting outside on the patio we could have been seated even quicker. Our waitress Lauren was wonderful throughout the meal. She told us about the daily special, got our drink orders and was attentive throughout the meal even with handling several other tables. I had the eggs benedict and added avocado. Freshies offers one of the best Hollandaise sacue I have had in a while. Freshies offers a single or double, which is unique as most restaurants just have one portion size for their benedicts. I got a choice of breakfast potatoes or green chili grits and chose the grits. They were very good and not too bland or too spicy. Pricing is very reasonable and I would definitely go back to Freshies the next time I'm in Steamboat.

Great little local cafe - food was good quality and came out quick - service was friendly and the atmosphere was laid back. Def recommend.

Much the same way a steakhouse is judged on the ability to cook a steak to order. A breakfast place could and should be judged by how they cook an egg to order. Both visits to this location have yielded poorly poached eggs. To the point where the egg is just about hard boiled. For that, I can't give Freshies over a 3-star review. They have a big menu with lots of delicious items. The croque is delicious and the southwest skillet was very good. We also shared a great cinnamon roll on another visit. The hint of lemon in the icing is key! Overall a good option. But a bad poached egg on a Monday morning when your dining room is only 3/4 full is not acceptable.

Freshies is a Steamboat breakfast/brunch institution and based on my recent visits I'd say with good reason. Freshies not only executes flawlessly on hot breakfast standbys but also runs carefully crafted specials, egg dishes mixing uniquely paired meats, vegetables and seasonings. We also had excellent fresh fruit options, considering the distance and (mud)-season, not a small feat. Unfortunately no longer a secret, Freshies is well worth a stop if you're visiting Steamboat.

Stopped into Freshies for breakfast because, knowing I was in Steamboat a friend from college asked if I had been there. I hadn't and so figured I had to try it out. I went in for breakfast and was seated immediately at the counter (cuz I was flying solo). I wanted to go low carb and so ordered the Freshies scramble which was chock full of basil, garlic, mushrooms, tomatoes, broccoli, parmesan cheese and flavor. Instead of the sides I got the greens which were a hearty helping of arugula with pine nuts, grapes and a nice dressing. All in all, a very good meal. Hope I have a chance to return before I leave.

I was at Freshies for lunch and I loved it. I chose the option that allowed me 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad. I got the beet salad and it was delicious.

  • Kerry T.

Excellent fresh food. Prices, service and location are good. We will go back every visit. Great variety on the menu. Do not be concerned it will only be healthy granola and fruit. It is that and so much more. A real treasure in Steamboat.

  • Anna G.

Pretty good breakfast. They were busy when we arrived so we waited quite a bit to even ask for a table as their hostess had cashier and hostess duties so I can't fault her, she was working her bum off. Food was OK it was pretty much your basic breakfast but at a tid higher price as we are in a resort area. The service was really friendly. I would recommend it as it is easy to access as far as parking and location and the prices are OK.

We got here after noon on a weekday so no more brunch. Ordered chicken salad sandwich with sweet potato fries. Food tasted 'fresh' but the chicken salad was a little dry. Fries were crinkle cut, good. Hubby ordered chicken tacos. The tortilla looked homemade & it was loaded with avocado.

The food was good. Lots of gluten free and/or vegan options. But the service was not the best.

I guess I'm the grump... When I walk in a place and 4 people look at me but no one says hello, I'm immediately turned off. I had the croquet it was served hot and fast and cheerfully the ice tea was amazing. Otherwise it was good, not great.

A long time favorite for breakfast when I'm back in the Boat. Loved the green chili and cheese grits with my huevos rancheros most recently. Perfect complimentary accompaniment.

Get breakfast place in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The waitress was nice and the cook came out to eat with us. She she's family to us. I would recommend it for a good morning cup of coffee and huge cinnamon roll!

We love the food at this local "institution." Can't beat the salads - incredible! But, please, for the love of everyone's hearing (especially your employees) - look into some sound reduction panels for your ceiling. It is so freakin' loud in there, it's ridiculous!! They make decorative, relatively inexpensive systems now that could even enhance and work well with the flowing lighting system currently in place. What a difference it would make to your customer's experience, not to mention the long-term health and well being of your staff. Come on Freshies, turn down the volume by blocking the bounce!

This is a great breakfast place in Steamboat Springs. They have a variety of choices on their menu. I had a veggie omelet, which was loaded with fresh vegetables. Everything was cooked well and the staff was friendly. I would definitely come back here.

Really good, clean food! Good for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. I had the breakfast burrito with veggie green chile sauce on top. Fabulous! The coffee is Excellent too which is rare for this type of coffee shop. Great friendly service. Not the cheapest breakfast in town but worth it. Are twice here during our stay.

Freshies was one of the restaurants i had bookmarked on my trip to Steamboat Springs. I went there on an early morning weekday, so there was no wait and we were seated promptly. I ordered the strawberry and i think berry pancake with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon, a friend had the banana walnut pancake, both were delicious. Service was prompt, friendly and coffee was good. Will be back and i suggest when you are in the Springs give this place a try.

This is an excellent breakfast place to go to in Steamboat. Good easy to get to location off Hwy 40 for those staying at either the resort or in downtown or just driving through. menu has lots of choices and is very delicious and health conscious. Has gluten free options as well. Had some cherry pancakes as well as a southwestern Benny. My taste buds were very happy.

We found this place on Yelp. The reviews were all good. It's located away from all the shops and restaurants on 595 South Lincoln Ave below street level. There's a small sign out front, but it's hard to see when you're driving by. We walked in on a snowy Sunday morning after church. We were immediately seated in a booth. The snow must have kept people away. I ordered the Summit Scramble (bacon, green chilis, and aged white cheddar) and my husband ordered the B.B.C Scramble (fresh broccoli, bacon, and cheddar cheese). Both were very good. The home fried potatoes were excellent. They were crispy golden brown on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. I told my husband that I would come just for the home fried potatoes. On their website, they offer a printed coupon for 1/2 off cinnamon rolls or free bottomless coffee. My husband got his coffee for free. Service was average. My husband got a coffee refill from another server and I asked for another package of jam from another server. We would definitely come back for breakfast the next time we're in Steamboat Springs.

For breakfast, lunch, or just coffee and pastries you can't go wrong. If you are a local check out the locals discount cards! Outside dining when the weather is warm and tons of windows so you feel like you are outside even in the winter.

Had the chicken salad plate. Definitely recommend it. Service was a little slow. And there was a 15 minute wait. But that was good because we were told it would be 20 minutes.

  • Morgan D.

Not really sure why I'm giving Freshies a 4 and not a 5, but Mmmmmm, Mmmmm, Mmmm. I had the Sedona Omelette; shredded beef, aged cheddar cheese, fresh BIG slices of avacado and the spicy chorizo tomatillo sauce (which I want to bath in!), the green chili cheese grits (so, so, so good), and the pumpernickel raisin toast. Oh and shared banana walnut pancake, which actually made me make Mmmmmm out loud. The service was.good, the place was clean, a little noisy, but that is to be expected. Defiantly will go back!

Holy mackerel- this place is amazing. Maybe the best grits I've ever had (and I'm from Texas, so that's pretty impressive)! The corned beef hash was excellent, but a little greasy. However, there is plenty on the menu that isn't quite so heavy and calorie laden. Yum! Worth the hour wait!

  • Z K.

Coffee is strong and good. Hot Chocolate, a little too sweet. OJ decent. French toast for my bestie, she said it was too hearty....but good. I had pancakes, eggs and bacon. Delish! Boys had biscuits and gravy, they both said yum and practically licked their plates! Fast and friendly service. They have some to die for looking scones, cookies, cinnamon rolls etc right up front in a deli case. We were too full so we took none of the above, but they sure were tempting!!!!

I love non-chain restaurants. The local eatery can't be beat, in my opinion. I was in Steamboat Springs for business while my company sold off it's Colorado branch. The folks at the branch all recommended Freshies for breakfast. Instead of eating free breakfast at the Hampton, I opted to try this place out. PROS: -I had banana Walnut pancakes, and they were hot, and delicious -I ordered bacon, and was crispy and hot -My coffee never went empty -Service was friendly and they checked on me regularly -The view of the mountains while eating breakfast was awesome -The parking lot has plenty of spaces -I didn't have to wait to be seated (Then again, this was on a Wednesday morning) CONS: -My pancakes could have been a tad crispier, but making non-mushy pancakes with bananas isn't easy. -I remember the booths having wooden seats. This may be uncomfortable for some. I would come back here in a heartbeat. It was nice to support a local.

The first time I had Freshies was in Chicago - my father was so impressed with their cinnamon rolls that he brought one home on the plane for me! It was amazing. On our next trip to Steamboat, my husband and I stopped in for lunch. The sandwiches were amazing. Highly recommended!

Full of Steamboat locals on a Monday morning in November but welcoming to our group of out of towners. Hueveos Rancheros and Pio Omelet for A and I - both very good. The Pio had a somewhat random mix of sauteed veggies that looked like it may have just been what they had handy at the time (even broccoli made an appearance). But I'm on board with that and the flavors all worked well. The kids all had french toast with strawberries and whipped cream. The strawberries were fresh and the syrup seemed less "fake" than most breakfast places.

While on the ranch outside of Steamboat I went into town twice, after my first lunch at Freshies I went there again the next time I was in town. The chicken tortilla soup was piping hot and delicious. I had a half of an open tuna melt, something I usually don't order but this was yummy. The next time I had a sandwich with cheese, avocado, and sun dried tomatoes, that was a hit as well. It's a friendly place, with pretty quick service, a good variety of offerings and a personable staff.

Really great food, but be prepared to wait for a long time. This place is super popular. We actually came for lunch, but hit the tail end of brunch before they started serving lunch items. We could have waited longer for the lunch option, but decided not to. As it was, we had to wait 20 minutes or so before we were seated. Considering how crowded the place was, I'm surprised we waited that little. I believe our willingness to eat breakfast instead of lunch helped. Service was good. Menu is great and has a lot of interesting items. I couldn't resist the raspberry granola pancakes and they measured up to the description. Husband ordered a curried tofu scramble. Really good! They give out free coffee to those waiting for a seat so we didn't even have to order coffee. Coffee was good. Cinnamon rolls in the case looked amazing, but we decided against ordering one to go.

Best breakfast in The 'Boat! We heard about this place from someone we met at dinner the night before who described it as a place where the locals go. We snagged a seat at the bar. Service was prompt and friendly, and the food was spot on. When I initially looked at their menu on Yelp, I wanted to come here primarily because they had green chili cheese grits. Now, I'm a Southern girl and I know my grits - and these grits are the best ones (albeit the only ones) I've tasted out here in CO! I had the croque which was so extraordinarily good that I cleaned my plate. My boyfriend had the beef machacha, which he also thoroughly enjoyed. Can't wait to go back and try some more of their menu items!

Get the cinnamon roll, and be ready to share! There is usually a wait on weekends for brunch, but get there early to avoid it all. Patio is great on a sunny morning. All the food is good, typical diner breakfast but the cinnamon roll is top notch. Coffee is very good as well.

  • Anna R.

Mother daughter weekend and stopped in after reading the positive yelp comments. wonderful experience. great service, great prices, and they even split the veggie omelet on to two plates and let us substitute grits for the toast. Even the fried potatoes were plentiful and delightfully seasoned. nothing was over salted either. We arrived on a Saturday morning in October at 9 and only waited 10 min. Great options, great flavor. two thumbs up!

I had heard Freshies was great, but my expectations were exceeded! On a Thursday morning in August we snagged a table on the shaded patio area with no wait. I ordered the Big Train Chai Tea (not a coffee drinker) and was pleasantly surprised that it was light and not at all too sweet. The three of us got an acai bowl and a cinnamon roll to share as appetizers. (I know, I know. We were on vacation!) The acai could have been a tiny bit creamier/more blended, but the amazing homemade granola made up for slight iciness. Meanwhile, the cinnamon roll was hands-down the best that any of us had ever tasted. Ever. No hyperbole. The enormous thing came out looking like a volcano, and the cream cheese frosting had the most delicious hint of lemon. After a couple bites each, we set it aside to finish later, and it was even more over the top awesome a couple hours later as a post-hike snack. The Greek scramble, the pumpernickel raisin toast, and especially the Croque all got enthusiastic thumbs up as well. Service was attentive and super friendly; our waitress even recommended a hike that was exactly what we were hoping for. Hooray for Freshies!

We went to Freshies today for breakfast on our way out of town. The service was great, but the food was okay. My husband ordered two scrambled eggs, bacon, and a cinnamon roll. He said, eggs are eggs, there is no way to screw that up. The bacon was okay. The cinnamon roll was huge, dry inside, and covered with a ton of cream cheese frosting. It's not the type of cinnamon roll with ooey gooey cinnamon inside. It also came with THREE short white/blond hairs. My husband didn't want to bother the servers about it... 3 hairs is a little crazy. I ordered the Aragon which came with 2 eggs (I ordered them over medium), sausage (choice of ham, sausage, or bacon) and a short stack of pancakes. I made mine gluten free. They were decent gluten free pancakes but not the best I've had. There is a $1.50 up charge for REAL maple syrup. The sausage had a strange mushy texture and was pretty bland. I gave the second sausage to our friend, because it wasn't worth eating. My friend ordered the blueberry pancakes with strawberries on top. He said they were good but didn't rave about it. He raves about good food. Yay for gluten free options. Boo for hair in your food and mushy bland sausage!

Lunch at Freshie's is just about the best in town. They have an impressive salad menu, which is often my go-to. The food always looks so bright and tastes delicious. The beet salad is by far my favorite. It's a little pricey, but the salad portions are huge. I've never been for breakfast, but I've had a couple things from the sandwich side of the menu (they have gluten-free bread!!!) and they have been consistently tasty. I especially like their avocado sandwich. Thank goodness for fresh and healthy options at Freshies!

We stayed in Steamboat 2 nights and ate here both mornings! Was delicious, maybe a bit on the high side for price, but what isn't in this mountain town?! Great food, friendly servers, and everything felt and tasted Fresh-ies!

I went here on Sunday with a friend and three kids around 11:30. They were getting ready to switch the kitchen from breakfast to lunch. Two of us wanted breakfast, and three wanted lunch. They were very accommodating and everyone got what they wanted. The food was incredible. Every plate was cleaned by the end of the meal. Vey,Very good!!!

Wow, you would have thought by going to this restaurant named Freshies that you were eating healthy food. Maybe on some items, but don't order the hamburgers. They are cook in so much grease that the bun acts like a grease sponge. The buns suck up everything, and dissolves from grease wetness. You would think they would use a "George Foreman" type grill, to allow the grease to run off, but they don't. With that much grease in your body, you will be getting sick. Just a word of warning, try not to sneeze, if you do, you will lose it from both ends. Never again for Freshies.... Poor food.

The food was just ok, our eggs were not cooked properly and the breakfast potatoes were mushy. The service was terrible, had to ask three times to get our drinks refilled. The server was very unfriendly and made my entire party feel very unwelcome.

I eat breakfast at Freshies each time I pass through Steamboat, which is usually once or twice a year. I ate there again last week and it was exactly what I craved. The experience is always the same - busy but you can usually get a table quickly and the service once seated is attentive. This time I had one of their daily specials: granola-crusted french toast. I also get the soy chai every time. I've never eaten lunch here but based on breakfast I would certainly give it a try. They do have patio seating but you would have to listen to the really busy main street in front. I have recommended Freshies to other fellow travelers and based on my recent experience, I'll continue to do so.

It was a national holiday and this place was packed, but the wait was not to long and we could sit outside and enjoy their planted flowers and the weather. We sat at the bar and shared a few items. Started with a berry smoothie. While good, I didn't get what was so special about it... then we got a salad and Jen's Homemade Chicken Salad: Diced white chicken salad with craisins and spicy sugared pecans served over tossed arugala with our house dressing. The sandwich was really good and large enough to share. We grabbed a chocolate chip cookie to go and enjoy on our bike ride/hike. Our only issues was that we should have gotten two cookies.

Our new go-to lunch place in Steamboat! We've been here several times with our kiddos and it's always been good. Kid-friendly with coloring sheets and crayons and good menu. Food: I've had both Meadow salad and tortilla soup, the Greek salad, and also the Greens salad. Fresh salads (as you'd hope from the name!) and tasty too!. The Greek salad was not the best I've ever had but they have a lot of salad choices so I don't see that as being a problem. (I'm on the picky side, the salad is probably fine for most people.) Kids have had Kids grilled cheese and fresh fruit and also the turkey and cheese. They loved them both. Our 9 yr old has ordered off the adult menu and been able to find several choices. Service - good. Attentive and friendly servers. They seem to have a 'team' approach so you can always find something to help if you don't see your server. We'll be back!

I LOVE FRESHIES!!! Seriously some of the best breakfast food I've had in a long time. I don't know what they do to the potatoes, but they are amazing!! I love the omelettes and scrambles. My boyfriend gets their breakfast sandwiches. We always leave with a smile. Want a good hearty breakfast before skiing or hiking? Come here. You won't be disappointed!

Really delicious lunch food! I have the Kale, Brussel Sprout, Arugula salad it was tasty. I wish I put the tofu on top so it had more ingredients in the salad; dressing was great. Came with pumpernickel raisin bread that was outstanding. My hubby loved his salad too. Really big menu with lots of great options for vegetarians and meat eaters alike. Wish we had time to go and try something else before leaving town, but we can't. Sat outside and enjoyed the views!

Freshies is definitely 3.5 stars -- I debated 4 but unfortunately I got a pretty basic breakfast so I didn't have much to judge. We went to Freshies for our last meal in Steamboat before heading to the airport -- upon hearing the name, I wasn't totally sold because it sounded like a bad chain restaurant; however, Freshies is indeed not a chain (it's owned by a local Steamboat family) and the breakfast and service were both solid. Although I was tempted by all the different pancake varieties and multigrain french toast, I ended up settling on the Aragon - 4 silver-dollar pancakes, 2 eggs any style, and choice of breakfast meat. I went with turkey sausage and over-medium eggs, both of which were very well-cooked. The eggs were not too runny nor too hard. The pancakes and the fresh maple syrup they gave us were good too. (They were out of regular syrup so we got the maple syrup for free!) My boyfriend got the special of the day, which was a sweet potato mash with turkey sausage and peppers. It was really tasty and seemed healthy too! All the ingredients were very high-quality and there was an emphasis on healthy options, which was nice. The coffee was good and they were great about constant refills. All the waitresses (as well as the owner, who came out to greet us) were all very nice. It was a very good meal overall. Also, although I did not try them, the cinnamon rolls looked great!! If I ever go back, I'll make sure to try one next time!

Service and food is excellent. This place is always busy. Expect a wait on the weekends. We came here Sunday and waited approximately 20 minutes to be seated. It was well worth the wait. I forget which omelet I ordered, but either way, it was good. The hash browns are really good and have some spice to them. Weekday mornings don't seem to be as hectic as weekend mornings, but it is still busy. There was no wait time Monday morning. Wish there was a Freshies in L.A.

We ate breakfast today at Freshies on the way out of town. The staff is friendly, and the decor is nice. I ordered the Two Egg breakfast, scrambled, with potatoes and turkey links. All were fresh and delicious I also had chai tea with almond milk which was really sweet, a bit like drinking desert. They offer gluten free bread and are more than willing to make modifications for special dietary needs. I learned that the owners once owned Winona's and sold it about 7 years back. Back in the old days I used to like Winona's (but now I understand why it isn't the same as before). From now on when I'm in Steamboat, I will be eating at Freshies. I just wish they were open a bit later so I could enjoy a late lunch after skiing.

This place can be packed but is worth the wait. The food is amazing and the cinnamon rolls are a great split for the table, or if you don't mind a little high blood sugar they are a delicious meal! Both breakfast and lunch are great and they also offer healthy choices from salads to veggie omelettes.

At first glance I thought that this place was overpriced (almost everything on the menu is $10), but once I got my food I realized that the prices are deceptive as the portions are huge. I got the Colorado and it was enormous and delicious. My friend got the half-salad/half-sandwhich deal which looked great. That half salad in particular would pass for a full most places. The ingredients were fresh, the bread was good quality, and the service was great. I'll be back the next time I'm in town.

Freshies is very popular, and always busy. Great Chai Tea here (they sell it), excellent sandwiches. Friendly service. I always enjoy going here. Get food to go and take along on a summer hike.

It's 11:30 and they don't serve breakfast. Seriously, who doesn't serve breakfast at 11:30?? Most places at least serve it until 12, so I was extremely disappointed that they wouldn't have even made some eggs. Already bummed, I got the French dip sandwich and it was entirely underwhelming. Bland meat and bland dip with soggy bread. I'm sure breakfast is fabulous but I was unimpressed with their lunch.

Yum! Freshies is awesome- not only because it is the best in Steamboat but if it were located closer to home, it would be a regular spot. The soups are delicious, fresh and really satisfying on a cold day. I had the avocado griller- which is avocado, oven roasted tomatoes, grilled onions and white cheddar cheese on grilled sour dough and I added grilled chicken- uh yum! My husband had the Rueben, also delicious. Totally worth the wait!

Hands down our favorite place for breakfast in Steamboat! We love that we can ride our bike right to their door. Coconut-pineapple pancakes with side of fresh strawberries and home made corn beef hash were on the table this morning. Get there early, cause it does get busy! Great staff who do their best to accomodate everyone! Thank you for all you do!

Brussel Sprout, Arugula and Kale Salad is still in my mouth. I am already drooling to get a bowl when I am back in that town. Screaming for some all the way from Alaska!!!

Two things you need to know about Freshies: 1. Despite their greasy-spoon-breakfast-is-our-specialty appearance, breakfast is not served all day. Last call is 11am, long before we rolled in around 1pm. Sampling their omelets and French toast was not to be. 2. Lunch is a fantastic alternative. The house veggie burger was divine, my dining companion's tofu salad was raved about with each bite. Eating outside while enjoying the fine Steamboat Springs air made for the perfect atmosphere. So perhaps go for breakfast, but you might want to stay for lunch.

Freshies is awesome! The food is great and although last time I was there they completely screwed up my order they comped me in full and made me a new breakfast, then the manager came over twice and apologized. Great customer service!! Little bit of a wait, but just because the food is awesome!

Was introduced to this place by a true local and that was a mistake - now I need to go anytime I am in town Love the food, the vibe, what they stand for and everything else - they just do it right! We tend to go for breakfast (there or we have also brought in). The egg dishes, pancakes, granola, grits and the baked goods are to die for When you eat this food, somehow you think you are doing something good? Why? Because the people who own it and work there are just so nice - this is one of those places where you can "taste" the love Bring some granola and baked goods home with you - your friends and family will appreciate you even more! Enjoy!

Good Food - Horrible Acoustics I ate here with my family during lunch. The food was good and the service was friendly, but we were not able to carry on a conversation because of how loud it was in there. The acoustics of this place had everyone shouting over each other. It doesn't matter how good the food is if I can't enjoy the company I'm with. If you are going to plan a visit, don't go during peak times. On another note - their bakery is just frozen stuff brought in on a truck and baked in their kitchen. I'm positive they could manage cookie dough on their own.

Only been for breakfast, and it was fine...but I am more of a hearty breakfast kinda guy and this place is anything but that. Veggie options are plentiful, and good I'm sure, but I need more than one meat choice on the menu, I have never left here full.

Recommended for lunch by hotel desk clerk. Glad we took the recommendation, great food and non-gluten choices. Would definitely go again.

This place is good, but it's not great. Service is very friendly and the food is fresh. There were many vegetarian options (although they ran out of veggie burgers when we were there), but both meals I ate there were fairly bland. The side salad substitute for lunch entrees is huge so, you get your money's worth even on a $10 sandwich. The breakfast portions were smaller, but still a good size. This is a great place to go for breakfast - especially if it's nice enough to sit outside. I wouldn't recommend it for lunch or dinner though.

We had to wait for 30 minutes plus, but they do provide coffee in the lobby while you wait, and since it was really tasty dark roast (with cream provided) the wait is ok (well that, and cool local art to look at). This place is small and the waiting area is crowded, but once you get in it is cool. I admit, I went here solely for the gluten free pancakes (only $1 more than the wheat variety), because its been forever since I had a pancake in a restaurant. I got a blueberry strawberry half stack, and it was huge! It was light and fluffy and fun, but not extremely complex in flavor (damn you rice flour). And unfortunately you have to fork over extra dough for real maple syprup (the high fructose corn syrup version is freely provided), and their butter was strange (margarine? clarified? vegan? It din't taste very salty and creamy...) But the pork sausage was awesome, so greasy and good! Another plus? They had these gluten free muffins for sale... while they were pricey they were insanely filling (I had ONE for lunch and was full for hours) and even though it didn't specify if they used gluten free oats, I didn't have a problem with the little amount in the muffin. I wish I would have bought all of them.

Food: 5 I ordered the Mediterranean omelet. Great flavor. I tried some of the buttermilk pancakes, which were melt in your mouth delicious. There was a great quality fruit in the fruit bowl (blueberries, strawberries, pineapple, watermelon). Service: 4.5 We ordered a second to-go without the watermelon (no problem, the waitress said), but when we opened it at home, there was watermelon amongst the other fruit. Location: 4 There was a really nice and shady outdoor seating area, but it was a little noisy because next to main road. I would expect this more from a downtown location, but this is just outside. Perhaps with some landscaping, they could reduce the noise a little or at least make the view a little nicer.

Delish! I liked the cinnamon roll here better than Winona's, which apparently comes as a shock to many people. My breakfast was delicious too, but I should have listened to my head instead of my stomach. I made the mistake of ordering a Greek scramble with green chili cheese grits - both were good (the scramble was actually fantastic), but the flavors just didn't jive well. Next time - a Greek scramble with potatoes!

Just okay. Green chile cheese grits were amazing and the main redeeming quality of freshies. Everything else was just mediocre. If you want a delicious breakfast in Steamboat, go to Creekside cafe.

Tasty, tasty food but confusingly expensive. My wife and I each got a chicken boursin sandwich there and I got one cup of coffee. The bill was thirty dollars, thirty six with tip!!? These sandwiches, though, are delicious.

This 5 Star review covers Breakfast only. First off, get a patio table if the weather permits. Just a nice option for a meal. As for the food.......... I think Freshies serves excellent breakfast. I am a simple traditionalist when it comes to breakfast. Eggs, toast, bacon, and potatoes. Hard to mess up, and Freshies represented well. Eggs over easy....Not hard to make. Toast came as a large slice of sourdough, and that bucked the norm that I anticipated. The bread was crunchy and lightly buttered, and for me that really hit the spot. Kudos there. Bacon came out crispy. More Kudos. The potatoes, however, I must really commend Freshies for. They were cooked to perfection to my standards. With a hint of golden brown, nicely seasoned, and a textured crispiness, all the potatoes found its way into my stomach. Ha ha :-D However, what really sold me on this place?? The Pancakes. I found them fantastically balanced with fluffiness, crispiness, and flavor. They arrived at the table, cooked perfectly, not burned or undercooked. The short stack still provided two large 6 inch pancakes. I upgraded and went with the banana walnut, and each bite tasted better than the one before it. Being the 4th of July weekend, my wife went with a Red, White, and Blue French Toast special, and she enjoyed that very much. The blueberries and strawberries tasted fresh, and ample portions of whip cream stood in delectable mounds on the plate, with thick slices of french toast nestled in between. We sopped our pancakes and french toast in syrup, and we fattened ourselves until satiety overtook us. Next time, we will need to check it out for lunch and/or dinner. :-) Looking forward to that.

I think the $$ is deceptive. This place was AWESOME for breakfast and the price was about the same as I'd pay for diner food...and the food was better. We got an omelette, a scramble, and two coffees for $30. I didn't think that was a bad price. I ordered the Summit Scramble which was amazing! My man got the Mediterranean Omelette which he liked as well. The wait is really long but well worth it. It's like diner food but less greasy and much better. I can't wait to have breakfast here again!

Wow - the name says it all. Very fresh food, high quality ingredients, and reasonably priced. Even my picky-eater children love it, and request it every time we visit SB. I love it because I feel good about what I am eating (read: not blowing the diet) when I am enjoying a little vacation.

I love this place. The hardest part is picking what to get. The salads are amazing the fish tacos looked great only my cousins did not leave me any to try. The sweet potato frys are a must and the wait staff is so friendly. I also bought a really cool cookbook there and a great knit cap so all and all my fave place in steamboat. Looking forward to going again on my next trip and trying the sandwhiches!

My boyfriend and I spent a long Valentine's weekend in Steamboat. We are both Colorado natives and love Steamboat, which we visit about 6 times per year for the Strawberry Springs, and 8-10 for boarding. This was the first time that we went to Freshies. The sign said organic fresh food. This is right up our alley, so we thought that this place would be perfect for us. As we went in it was very chaotic and we waited for a bit to be seated. When our waitress brought our hot tea she spilt the scolding water on my boyfriend. We are normally pretty chill people, so after cleaning up what we could we brushed it off. We waited almost 40 minutes for our food and when our waitress brought the food she was eating herself, and licking/sucking food off of her teeth. We were pretty grossed out about this. But continued to try to stay calm. As we were eating we looked around and literally all of the waitresses and bartender were eating. They were picking food up, putting it in their mouths, licking their fingers and continuing to serve customers their food. An older waitress, she had a grey ponytail coughed in her hand, ate some food than rang up some customers....Yuck!!! It shouldn't be hard to realize that you do not touch your mouth, eat, cough on your hands then proceed to handle customers food, or touch a register that every other waitperson touches also. We were absolutely disgusted. My boyfriend is a Mountain boy, and it takes a lot for him to get grossed out. But this place did it. The food wasn't bad, but we couldn't finish our meals because of the unsanitary and outright disrespect that the waitstaff was displaying for Freshies customers. We got our check and left, but washed our hands first. But wait there's more...... when I got my bank statement Freshies had charged me $92 for our $29 meal!!! What are you kidding me!! I called Freshies and the manager on staff told me that our waitress, the one that spilt hot water on my boyfriend, the one that served us our food while she was eating her lunch, put in a $52 tip for herself on our $29 meal. (I left her what I thought was a generous $5.) "Honest mistake," is what the manager said. The charge was reversed and I finally got my $52 back 1 week later. We will never come here again!!! And will tell all of our friends and family to stay away from this place with the nasty, entitled waitstaff. You can have the best food in the world, but if your waitress sneezes on it, or touches it with her freshly slobbered hands it is instantly contaminated and ruined!! This Colorado Native is very disappointed.....

I recently revisited this restaurant for a work lunch, and thanks to the recent remodel and lack of children going insane inside, it wasn't bad. It is a pretty busy location for working lunches, so be prepared to wait for a table. I ordered the soup and salad combo for lunch. The bread is toasted on a griddle, so it was a bit too greasy for me (think Steak and Shake patty melt). I hate needing multiple napkins to eat my sandwich. The flavors are great though (with the help of the savory fats). Next time I might try the salad to avoid the greasy spoon effect on the sandwiches.

Don't get me wrong - this place is a five star restaurant for food, but i'd give it a three for service. Average it out and you get four stars. I had a custom omelet which was so incredible (if you like veggies)!! It had spinach, avocado, tomato, jalapeno jack cheese, and topped with some of their fresh salsa. Ooooh, was it good!! Everything seemed to suit their name, completely fresh and delicious, especially the salsa. My son had a short stack of chocolate chip pancakes with chocolate milk. He ate every bite! The service: These were some very friendly people, so don't get me wrong. They had a lot of smiles and were very accommodating. What was weird though, was that they had multiple people serving the tables which seemed to create some confusion. My plate came out without the salsa, and I ate almost half before I got the salsa - which was such a wonderful accent. I also had to ask a 2nd waitress for cream for my coffee and the first one never came back and my coffee was getting cold. In summary - go there and enjoy the food (I'd go back!) and hopefully you'll get service that will take them to five stars!!!

The location is fantastic, the staff are great, the prices are decent and the breakfast that we had was delicious. Plus, the bloody's are better than another place that we went that boasted the best bloody's in town. We'll be back to try lunch on our next visit to Steamboat.

The front office at World Mark Steamboat Springs recommended Freshies, at first I thought she said Fishies, but what's a name when the food is so good! My wife had the half tuna and salad and I had the burger and fries, both were excellent. We plan on going again before we leave.

Ehhh... their veggie burger was good but the menu was not very vegan friendly. Also, I was still hungry after eating the veggie burger and chips for lunch. However, it was nice to sit outside and watch the giant coal trains go by.

Went for lunch with our two small kids. Food was excellent, lots of local options and "fresh" just like the name. Service beyond outstanding - waitress was genuinely patient with my indecision, and brought the check early without being asked, which is a big favor when dining with tots. Chicken salad was a knockout, kids menu is well above average (no mac/cheese, thank God), and fruit side was delicious AND varied. It's a little loud, but this just added to the kid-friendliness - Freshies is VERY kid-friendly. Went back for breakfast; just as delicious - Freshies Scramble was just the right size and fantastic, and daughter's cinnamon roll was to die for. Love this place!

Ah, my dear Freshies, we came with a warm heart and empty stomach and.......you sent us back, half full and broken hearted After about 10 minutes of waiting for brunch, we got a table at their porch. So far, so good. Then we order an iced mocha, iced tea, soup, salad and a sandwich. They were out of grits and chile. The drinks and the broccoli soup was on our table in about 5 min. Our waitresses asked that I stir my mocha, and sure enuf, most chocolate syrup waz at the bottom (too buzy i guess). Soup was kinda watery and the broccoli looked wierd, please, please tell me it wasn't from a tin can. After about 30 min, the waitress tells us they are also out of salad and sweet potato. Palin's trademarked 'Say it aint so, Joe' pops in my head. It wasn't just that they ran out of most specials and 'famous-for' items...it was also that the staff really didn't seem to care about it. Will not be back...sorry.

I have given Freshies many times and I am finally done. Living here for many years, I still do not understand why anyone would go back, or suggest it to anyone. The service is OK the food has always been, well, awful. The last time my family and I were there, the split pea soup tasted like the box it came in. My daughter who eats everything had two bites and was done. My sons chicken fingers were way overdone. I has the gyro and it came like shoe leather. I sent it back and it came to me half way edible. There was no taste and the lettuce was out dated. We were the third table for lunch, this is not acceptable. Good bye not so Fresh(ies).

This place is open for breakfast and lunch. They have a coffee bar as well. I really enjoyed my huevos rancheros. If you have been to Magnolia in Austin, TX, this place is like that. It's sort of diner, Mexican, and vegetarian fusion. There is stuff on the menu for all tastes from regular burgers to granola breakfasts. I thought it was great, maybe a little expensive, but it is a ski town, so who knows, it might be priced the same as everything else here. I'm on business through Friday afternoon, and I'm positive I'll be back. This is saying a lot because I like to pocket my per diem... yes, I am that cheap. You can check out the menu here: skitownrestaurants.com/a… I had the huevos rancheros with the green chile grits. I thought it was a creative take on the grits. I've never had them complimented with chiles, only sweet things or cheese. The restaurant allows you to choose your salsa for the huevos, and I suspect the tortillas are either locally made or made there. Very good and fresh. Afterward, I had a lemon and coconut cookie. It was out of the refrigerator at the front of the restaurant. It would have been better warm, but was still good. Note: no Amex.

Best breakfast in Steamboat. We have eaten everywhere in town and this holds up to the hype. When I saw "Eggs Benny" listed like that on the menu I knew they were talking to me. I have called it that for years and have never seen it listed like that. My wife had the western omelette and it was Fab. Pancakes were great as well. Some of the best breakfast potatoes ever! Love this place and will come back with the entire family!

Nothing really special here, don't know what the hype is about. Gets pretty crowded, but the food isn't really anything special, just a regular bfast/lunch menu. A bit overpriced because of the "place to be" hype I guess.

True. The egg limitation is, well, limiting. I have to say the service was fantastic, especially following our disaster dinner at La Montana (the night before). From the get go, the host was even phenom! Another big group, our waitress hit it out of the park- delivering DIY Mimosa's. We were happy to! Plus, the patio is fantastic! Can't wait to hit up this gem next time I'm in the boat.

Unlike my fellow pal here, I like eggs! I am Jen! I am Jen I am! That Jen-I-am! Do I like eggs and ham? I do like eggs and ham! Would I like them here or there? I would like them here and there. I would like them anywhere! I like eggs and ham. Would I like them in a little town? Would I like them in the snow? Would I like them before I ski? I would like them in a little town. I would like them in the snow. I would like them before I ski. So I will it them in a little town. So I will eat them in the snow. So I will eat them before I ski. Say! I will eat them ANYWHERE! I do so like eggs and ham! Thank you! Thank you, Jen-I-am!* Freshies, you can feed me eggs anytime...with grits please! -------- *apologies to Dr. Suess

Breakfast is tasty if you can handle the crowd and the lackluster atmosphere that appears to be arranged by someone who's a little confused about the style direction they were seeking. Booths are very uncomfortable and we manged to get the table with the broken lamp twice. Service is horrible and slow. The first time we went, we both had the cinnamon french toast. It was a special and it was delicious - and a good deal. We went for lunch on another date and all of our cinnamon dreams of deliciousness were shattered. We both ordered the 'veggie' burger. That title is deserving of quotes because I'm still not really sure what that was, or if vegetables ever visited it either. It was more like and mushy (extremely mush, like wet croutons mushy) and tasted like dog food. It was a huge square slab of the most unappetising gruel I've experienced in a while... ok, ever. It sticks out of the bun in all directions, taunting you like the bacteria guys in the athlete's foot commercials. It smelled weird, and was seriously like the consistency of cold oatmeal. One bite, and one considers vomitting, until you realize your sandwich already is... it's so bad that the 'patty' just falls apart in rebellion, hoping you'll stick to the fries. Gag, seriously, I have to stop writing about it because my stomach is churning. They only got two stars because breakfast was decent, but I won't be returning. And to add insult to injury (which may be fatal) the service is horrible. Our waitress totally forgot about us, never refilled our glasses and my husband had to go into the kitchen to get our check. And the food is not cheap - and you have to pay extra for fries with your disgusting patty of lifeless veggie meatloaf they call a burger. Feeder beware of this place....
